bbb, I realized that V.K. is still not dead (it is in agony). Yesterday I visited this sorry cemetary of books (hard cover $1, soft cover $.50) and bought a sack of books. 3 volumes of the Military Encyclopaedia; a thin booklet of memoirs of a Baltic Fleet captain, 1914-1918; selections from the World Literature Library; and a sackload more. If anybody is interested, they are open on weekends only (Friday too, but they told me the best day to come is Saturday), until September. Then the remaining books will be incinerated.
