Laptop refuses to hibernate
Hi all,
Laptop refuses to go into hibernation any more. What could possibly be the reason? It used to say "insufficient system resources" (without specifying which resources are lacking), now it simply does not give me this option. Goes into standby mode instead.
Google, of course, gave me some examples of similar experiences (here is one). I wonder if you have anything to say about this.
Thanks.
Update. This is indeed a well known problem. XP computers with more than 1 G memory have trouble going into hibernation. The ultimate solution is to use Microsoft hotfix number 909095 or hibernate fix from Xceed Software. (More fixes may be available that I am not aware of.) One can call Microsoft for a (free!) support ticket or google up a copy of the fix online.

About hiberfil.sys file
1. disablе hibernation support and reboot.
2. it'll delete hiberfil.sys from c drive.
3. enable Hibernation support
4. it'll recreate hiberfil.sys BUT
with the correct SIZE to accomodate yr real RAM when hibernate

Strange that it does not do this on its own; the disable-enable cycle is almost as commonplace as the power cycle.
Thanks!

My residential hacker recommends it - it saves you much more time than alternative
