Yiddish

A fusion language.

I saw people criticizing Harold Bloom for mistakes in the article. I cannot judge, but the gist of it seems right.

Update. But the book is expensive. When will it be available online?

Идиш не более fusion, чем английский.

He mentions it too. Says "more", though.

Yiddish is a Germanic language with a Hebrew-Aramaic stratum: http://www.berkovich-zametki.com/Nomer21/MN36.htm

Certainly it is Germanic, however Slavic influence on its Eastern dialects is strong. In addition, it has absorbed a smattering of Romance. Of course, the vocabulary and the way of expression has been heavily informed by Hebrew.
