Случайные совпадения случаются во многих языках мира. По-малайски "два" - dua, но это исконно австронезийское слово, никак не связанное с индоевропейскими языками.
This coincidence is accidental, but not arbitrary. The notion of 2 and the word for it is likely older than the great exodus of Man from Africa and the branching of languages into groups.
Nevertheless, 2 is "shney/shtey" in Hebrew, "yi" in Cantonese, "kaks" in Estonian - off the top of my head, these are all non-IE words. Haven't the ancestors of their speakers also come out of Africa?
They most likely have, but we do not know what influenced their languages. Again, if we accept the hypothesis of the proto-language (that only included words for the very basic notions, of course) the probability of accidental reconvergence of the words for these notions in the modern languages at the "point of origin" is somewhat higher than at any other location within the phonetic space. Is there any other (non Finno-Ugric) language in which 2 also accidentally sounds like "kaks", or a non-Semitic language with 2 sounding like "shney/shtey"?
Если Аль-Борс действительно переводится как "высокая гора", то и неудивительно. Тогда это не конвергенция, а просто иранское название. Иранская группа языков в тех районах представлена довольно обильно.

Ну вот
Я не знаю происхождения этого выражения. Вполне могла быть шуточная расшифровка иностранного слова или выражения, вроде полундры.
Indoeuropean languages are not the center of the world

Занятно...
Конвергенция?
P.S. Кстати как раз там находится потухший ( ну не совсем- фумаролит периодически) вулкан Демавенд.
