Because a longer and wittier post was killed by the poor behaving logjam client, I will just say that Mozilla edged out Opera for me, mostly in the area of Cyrillic support. There are additional considerations which I might add later, if anybody cares.

I wonder what people say about the latest IE (no IE for linux, I know) and lesser known browsers like Konqueror. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Update: logjam really sucks!
Update 2: well, not really, but it does.

Thanks. Try Mozilla, you may like it. 25M is not too heavy. Don't know about Hebrew, but Cyrillic is fine (with the exception I mentioned).

You really use KDE? Why?

Thanks, maybe I will.

Why not?
Three years ago I liked their international keyboard :) Since then it became worse, disabling "per window" setting. GNOMe applications that I want to use are running fine. What do you prefere and why?

Well, I still cannot decide. Since I am on a laptop most of the time, I wanted to have something light; GNOME and KDE looked too heavy. Plus, I wanted the battery charge shown automatically, so I would not have to customize it. See, I had to get down to the business quickly. So, I tried all the managers that came with Mandrake and started using Ice mostly on the lark (on the looks, basically). I would not say I am particularly excited about it, though: things that GNOME or KDE would have, I have to add myself. But I did want it light, so I don't complain. :-)

I suppose when I upgrade the system I will upgrade the setup too. For now, I just upgrade it piecewise.
