Допустим, я сделал такую вот глупость: дефрагментировал диск, с которого загружался через lilo. Теперь lilo не находится, или не находит бута, или чего-то ещё, но короче, лаптоп не стартует. Чего делать? Ходить к специалистам или самому лечить? Если лечить, то как?

Fine. By "Дефрагментировал" you must mean "combined two partitions into one", because defragmenting an NTFS partition will not touch any other partitions on the disk.

Then you can find an old DOS/Win boot floppy (up to Win 98) and run "fdisk /mbr". If you do not have it but have an XP installation disk, then:

If for some reason you find the need to get back to your Windows XP bootloader instead of the one installed by your Linux distro, simply follow these instructions:

1. Boot up with your Windows XP disc.

2. Select the option Recovery Console.

3. At the prompt, type "fixmbr" (without the quotes of course)

4. Restart your computer.
