Robert Bartley wrote an open letter to a friend, explaining his position with respect to 9/11 and how its aftermath in the US is different from the European perspective.

Remember the fire station on Middagh Street, a couple of blocks behind the church? That houses Engine 205/Ladder 118, whose men raced over the Brooklyn Bridge to respond. Eight firefighters from the station were lost. One was fatally injured when he was hit by a jumper, someone driven to leap off the burning building.
If this is true (which is not impossible, although sounds like an urban legend)... I cannot comment this.

И тут многие так думают

честно говоря, у меня все больше укрепляется впечатление, что определенная часть американцев просто помешалась на Европе. наверное, она скоро будет виновата в амер. наводнениях и ураганах...

Наоборот; им кажется, что в Европе считают, что Америка виновата и т.д.
