I am trying to minimize politics in my LJ, but I just thought that if anybody cares (nobody does), I think Kerry did in fact mean to talk about Bush in the recent infamous episode. He was simply clumsy, which is quite in his character.

And now he says he botched the joke. Well, in the last several years he has botched pretty much everything, so why not the joke? Notice that he still (as of now) refuses to apologize, which is a reasonable and human thing to do — especially if he did not mean it.

Disclosure: Kerry is one of my least respected politicians.

Update. Kerry apologized.

я, не очень внимательно прочитав эту цитату в первый раз, понял её именно так, поэтому это мне показалось самым естественным объяснением. невероятно большим запасом доброжелательной предвзятости, кажется, не обладаю. естественно, грамматически такого смысла там нет, поэтому неясно, почему он не поправился сразу, когда ему на это указали.

У меня же в отношении Керри предвзятость в другую сторону. Но всё равно.
