The disagreements and problems that dogged Miss Rice's trip were in stark contrast to the experience of Hillary Clinton, the US Senator and wife of President Bill Clinton, who was visiting Israel at the same time.

Mrs Clinton, who is widely tipped as the next Democrat candidate for the White House, was well received at a number of events
.

Has the campaign started already? Condoleeza Rice versus Hillary Clinton? Catfight! Catfight!

Update. Funny thing, most of the people who replied belong to the right of the political spectrum. What about the left, progressive, democratic side? Aren't they looking forward to see Hillary versus Condy? Or, in case a catfight does not appeal to them, maybe they could suggest something more exciting? I may have a couple of ideas.

Update. Finally, a solid, I would say definitely progressive plan!

Are you serious? Mrs. Clinton who is widely tipped can run, of course, but no way she'll be the next President!
Tuesday, November 15th, 2005 07:32 am (UTC)
I am not saying she will be elected. But look at what the newspaper is writing. See?
Tuesday, November 15th, 2005 07:38 am (UTC)
There are three people who could defeat Hillary Clinton in my opinion: Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, and Condoleezza Rice. Anybody else - and Hillary is the next President.
Tuesday, November 15th, 2005 01:03 pm (UTC)
Not really. Hillary is may be the biggest vote-getter for the Republicans one can imagine.
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 04:23 am (UTC)
Democrats too. And it will be so exciting! Catfight!

:-)
Tuesday, November 15th, 2005 07:43 am (UTC)
Hitlery will eat Condi for breakfast. Condi is a non-starter.
Tuesday, November 15th, 2005 08:40 am (UTC)
Hill is a political shark, a person of establishment, with tons of money and the whole leftist media machine behind her. Even Rudy had chickened out of going against Hill mano-o-mano. Condi is just a poor black girl at heart with no connections, who never even tried to run for a public office. Besides she is single - a disqualifying factor more important than her race.
Tuesday, November 15th, 2005 08:45 am (UTC)
I agree, the fight would be uphill for Condy. All the more interesting!

I say, catfight!
Tuesday, November 15th, 2005 03:10 pm (UTC)
The idea is quite old and aesthetically attractive :-)

On the other hand, Hillary as the next President... poor country...

Are you talking about the NY senator's race? So you do not believe that he had his cancer treatment at the time? I thought it was a true reason to drop out.
Tuesday, November 15th, 2005 12:37 pm (UTC)
Whatever it was, he is talking about a pre-911 Rudi running in New York against a pre-911 Hillary. BTW, even then her win was not certain.

Can you imagine any person who did not vote for Kerry, but will vote for Hillary? Can you imagine someone who voted for Bush, but will stay home when Hillary is on the ballot?

If the war is considered as mostly won and a non-issue, Hillary running for President - will be the only thing that may get Republican voters to vote in numbers.

Конди порвала бы Клинтониху, как тузик тряпку в дебатах. Но, к сожалению, это бы ей не помогло в выборах...
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 04:29 am (UTC)
Дебаты не имеют особенного значения, как правило. Вот если бы их на ринг, вот тогда...

:-)

Керри в дебатах порвал Кустова. Не помогло
Friday, November 18th, 2005 09:42 pm (UTC)
You right - it's unpredictable
Saturday, November 19th, 2005 12:47 am (UTC)
It is unpredictable in the sense that their results do not predict elections. However, the debates themselves can often be predicted well: obviously Bush cannot talk, so he would lose debates almost to anyone. Hillary and Condy is a different matter, each has her strengths. Would be nice to watch.

But not so nice as a catfight!
Saturday, November 19th, 2005 12:45 am (UTC)

> What about the left, progressive, democratic side?

I'll happily go back to the "left, progressive, democratic" side [where are my left-wing colors?]. I don't have any attachment to "the right" ;-) I just don't like Hillary, although a catfight does appeal to me ;-)

> I may have a couple of ideas

OK, give us your ideas ;-)
Thursday, November 17th, 2005 11:19 pm (UTC)
I counted you among the left side, or else it would have been 100% pure right-wing!

As for my ideas, they are not very original.

> I counted you among the left side

Good!
Friday, November 18th, 2005 12:40 am (UTC)
Myself being in the center, of course. :-)

Here's my "uniting, not dividing" plan again:
Step 1. Hillary gets a divorce from Bill
Step 2. Hillary and Condi move to MA
Step 3. Hillary and Condi get married.
Step 4. Hillary and Condi run for office on a bipartisan platform - they decide themselves who is the presidential and who is vice-presidential candidate. Or they can switch every 3 months, if they feel like it. Everyone votes for them, the country is united, and they happily live ever after.
Saturday, November 19th, 2005 12:51 am (UTC)
This is indeed a very promising plan. Both for the country and for the candidates whose personal life does not appear to be sufficiently satisfactory lately. I just have one problem with it: what, no catfights?
