I think many Americans elected BO because he is black. In the past people could have voted for a black man despite his color, and it is progress (and before that would not or could not vote for blacks etc). But when will people ignore the color altogether? That will be something.

Blacks tend to vote Democratic. 93% of the Washington DC vote went to Obama, who is black, but then 89% went to Kerry, who is white.
